Privacy Policy

1. Who operates the finder

Garage Talk Inc. operates the Garage Talk Shop Finder. Privacy questions may be sent to innovation@occulartchnologies.com, by telephone at (850) 427-2093, or through Discord customer service.

2. Location information

You may type a city and state or press “Use my location.” The browser asks for location permission only after you press that button. If you allow access, the finder receives latitude and longitude coordinates so it can measure distance and show nearby businesses.

Your browser controls the location permission. You may deny or revoke it at any time in browser or device settings. If “Remember this location and distance” is selected, the chosen coordinates, location label, distance, and save date are stored in local storage on that device. They are removed when you turn that option off, clear browser data, or reset the site.

When you run a Google Places search, the selected coordinates, distance, location label, and business search words are sent through the Garage Talk server to Google. When you search by city, the city text is sent through the server to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim geocoding service. Do not enter a home address in the city field.

3. Information handled

• Search words, selected category, distance, and chosen city.
• Optional device location coordinates after permission is granted.
• Device-local preferences when you choose to remember them.
• Technical request information ordinarily processed by hosting and network providers, such as IP address, browser type, request time, and security logs.
• Public business information from OpenStreetMap and, when enabled, Google Places.

The current finder does not create customer accounts, process payments, run advertising profiles, or intentionally collect precise location in the background.

4. How information is used

Information is used to locate nearby businesses, calculate distance, remember settings you request, provide offline functionality, secure and operate the service, diagnose errors, and respond to customer-service requests.

5. Service providers and external links

The finder may use hosting and network providers, Google Places and Google Maps, and OpenStreetMap or Nominatim. Selecting a business website, telephone link, email link, Google Maps link, or Discord link connects you with that third party. Their privacy practices apply after you leave the finder.

6. Local storage and offline cache

The progressive web app may cache its interface, offline page, icon, and public business directory on your device. Location preferences are stored only when you select the remember option. The current code does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

7. Retention

Remembered preferences remain on your device until you turn the option off or clear site data. The finder does not currently write city or location searches to an application database. Hosting, security, Google, OpenStreetMap, and linked services may keep operational records under their own retention practices. Garage Talk should confirm production log retention with its hosting providers before final legal approval.

8. Choices and rights

You can use city search instead of device location, deny or revoke location permission, disable remembered preferences, clear browser storage, and avoid Google Places or external links. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about covered personal data. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify the request before responding.

9. Children

The finder is not intended for children under 13, and Garage Talk does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this finder. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

10. Security and changes

Garage Talk uses reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service, but no internet service can promise absolute security. This policy may be updated when features, vendors, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be identified by a new revision date and, when appropriate, an in-app notice.
